How To Develop Creative Thinking

Creative thinking is latent in all individuals.  But most of us hardly know how to develop it. Here are some simple principles to help you develop your creative thinking. There are some basic methods of creative thinking.  You would be able to kindle your creative thinking if you develop these as part of your regular practices.

Creative thinking is applied to solving certain specific problems. It would include inventing new ideas or concepts or even products. A truly creative person always asks a lot of questions. How is creative thinking developed?

To be more creative you may focus on the following tips:

Challenge your hypotheses: learn to challenge your assumptions about anything. Imagine a situation where regularities do not exist; for example, how could you teach animals such as dogs or elephants to draw or paint. This is not impossible because quite recently they had showed an elephant using colors to paint a picture on TV!

Modify your perspective: see how differently you would handle a situation from your own perspective. You could utilize your creative thinking to generate more income for your company, increase efficiency of your work team, etc. Always learn to look at things from different perspectives.

Let your ideas flow freely: Relax and let your dreams run wild. As you let your ideas flow, you would be able to differentiate between possible and impossible ones. Brainstorm your ideas and see which ones could be put into practice.

Now you know how to focus on your creative ideas. But how do you come up with more creative ideas? How do you develop creative thinking as a habit? To be able to make creative thinking as a habitual part of your thinking, just use them as much as possible. Pick a certain time everyday. Write down your creative ideas as they come to your mind. Remind yourself of these ideas each day at the same time until you put your ideas into successful practice.

Practice deep breathing exercise to develop creative thinking. This is a very effective way of improving your thinking ability. Deep breathing enhances an improved functioning of your brain immediately after the exercise.

Here is how deep breathing helps creative thinking. When you breathe deeply you tend to relax. More oxygen is breathed in and enters your blood and flows along to your brain. Increased oxygen taken in through deep breathing and relaxation has been proven to improve your brain function. Try breathing deeply through your nose.

Meditation also helps true relaxation. Studies have shown meditation to be conducive to creative problem solving. To practice meditation you need not go anywhere or do anything extraordinary. Just sit in a comfortable position in a quiet room. Close your eyes. Breathe through your nose, deeply at first and concentrate on your breath. After doing this for a few minutes, when you concentrate only on your breath, the images and other thoughts would slowly subside. Soon you would feel that your mind is calm and clear.

After meditating and deep breathing you are ready to approach your problems and you would be surprised at your own ability to find creative solutions.

So, what are you waiting for? Let loose your creative thinking and bring in new meaning to your dreams and goals.
